We are parents and teachers who care about children and
education. Our goal is to foster an environment where our terrific teachers
and administrators and our children can do their best work.
Parents are often surprised to learn that so many of the programs and
resources at elementary schools today come from PTAs. Through fundraisers
and donations, we strive to provide the services not funded by the county
and that help to make Lead Mine a fun and engaging place for our children to
begin their school experience.
What does the Lead Mine PTA do?
We provide significant resources to support our
teachers, specialists, and administrators with their curriculum needs.
We fund major projects to enrich the school. Recent
examples include curtains and lights for our stage, a substantial initiative
to replace aging technology, and replaced chalk boards with white boards.
This year we plan to replace outdated maps and globes in the classrooms.
We provide cultural arts programming for all our students. Every year, the school is visited by storytellers, artists, dancers, and theatrical productions
all paid for by the PTA.
We host an annual carnival that is a fun-filled,
family event.
We coordinate parent volunteers in the Media
Center, Copy and Laminating Center, and cafeteria, taking on administrative
tasks so that teachers and their assistants can be with our children.
We sponsor student activities such as the Odyssey
of the Mind and Jump Rope teams, drama productions, a Science Expo, and the
Lyrical Leopards Chorus, among others.

Volunteering doesn't have to mean a huge time commitment. An hour or two
per semester makes a big difference. There are jobs to fit your schedule and
interests. We even have tasks that don't involve coming to the school at
all.
The PTA theme this year is Lead Mine Elementary...A World of Learning.
Join us as we work with Lead Mine's top-notch teachers and administrators
to ensure a quality education for all Lead Mine students. Together we can
make a world of difference.
We are looking forward to a super school year and appreciate your interest
in the PTA. Monthly PTA meetings are generally on the third Thursday of each
